Australia take on Great Britain in the gold medal match of 2017 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup at the Azlan Shah Stadium on Saturday.
The world number two team head into the match on the back of a shock 3-2 defeat to tournament minnows Japan in their last round-robin group match yesterday.
On the other hand, seventh ranked Great Britain have entered the final of the hockey tournament 23 years after they lifted the trophy in 1994 by edging past New Zealand 3-2 yesterday.
Australia had not lost a game until their final group game but their momentum has taken a hit after the shock loss on the final matchday of group stages. It will be important for the defending champions to buckle up and get back to their best.
The nine-time champions though have enough firepower to dominate on the big night. The onus will be on their joint top-scorers Tom Craig and Trent Mitton, who have set the tournament on fire with five goals each. Apart from scoring goals, the Men in Yellow have been solid at the back, conceding the least number of goals (seven) among the six teams in the tournament.
Australia will also take confidence from their 2-1 win over Great Britain in the group stages, in which Mitton played a crucial role.
On the other hand, Bobby Cruthcley's side will acknowledge the uphill task that awaits them today. Great Britain though will be motivated to give it their all and make their hard-earned opportunity count on the big night.
