Athletes from all over Asia flew to Indonesia with a dream to conquer Asian Games 2018 in respective events. While some dreams have come true, some athletes failed to achieve medals.
Team Singapore achieved maximum medals in swimming, where Olympic gold medalist Joseph Isaac Schooling bagged two gold medals, Roanne Ho received silver and in the relay, Singapore achieved three bronze medals. In the 2014 Asian Games, which took place in South Korea, at the end of the event Singapore achieved a total of 25 medals and finished at the 15th position but, this time they managed to bag 22 medals and received the 18th place on the list of the medal tally.
However, China maintained its position, as they finished with maximum medals, Japan and Republic of Korea achieved second and third best position respectively in the medal tally. The host of the 2018 Asian Games also performed extremely well and received the fourth position. In terms of medal tally other top 10 countries are Uzbekistan, Iran, Chinese Taipei, India, Kazakhstan and DPR Korea.
On the last of the event, Sunday, September 2, Indonesia said goodbye to the 18th Asian Games. Thousands of people and athletes witnessed the spectacular two-hour long ceremony that took place at Gelora Bung Karno stadium.
