The 2017 WTA Finals Singapore is all set to see the face off for 1500 points at Singapore Indoor Stadium after dividing players into two groups on 20 October, Friday.

The draw ceremony for the singles has already divided players into red and white group.

The world No. 1 Simona Halep, the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, Danish ace Caroline Wozniacki and the French player Caroline Garcia were seeded to the red group.

On the other hand, the white group has remaining players. It includes 2017 Wimbledon winner and the world No. 2 Garbiñe Muguruza, the Czech ace Karolina Pliskova, the American tennis star Vennual Williams and the Latvian player Jelena Ostapenko.

The white group will start the tournament on 22 October, Sunday. Pliskova and Venus will play the first match of the day one. Later there will be another match between Muguruza and Ostapenko.

In a head to head count the world No. 3 Pliskova and the elder of the Williams sisters both share equal matches. The WTA Finals will be the second face-off between these two top rank players after the 2016 US Open round of 16 match, where Pliskova defeated Venus by 4-6 6-4 7-6(3).

"I think it's better for me this group than the other group," Pliskova said as quoted by WTA.

"I think we all play similar styles. I've played a lot of times with all the girls, so I know pretty much everything about it. I will prepare my best and hopefully have good matches," she concluded.

According to The Straits Times the 37-year-old Venus said, "I want this one now, so that's all I'm focused on ... each player here is equally as difficult (to play)."

On the other hand, Muguruza, who was the second Spniard to win the Wimbledon after Conchita Martinez has a 3-1 lead in a head to head count against Ostapenko. Previously both had been featured in Rome Masters and Wuhan. Both have won one match each in 2017.

"I feel like we're playing a semifinals or a final," Muguruza said.

"It's very exciting. You have to play your very best to win. I have some big hitters in my group," she further added.

Second day of the tournament, that is 23 October, Monday, players from red group have been scheduled to play two matches. The first match will be Halep vs Garcia and then the second one Svitolina vs Wozniacki.

The top seed Halep and the 24-year-old Garcia has 2-2 head to head record till now. Both of them have played in 2017 Canadian Masters and Beijing against each other. While one battle was won by Halep, in the second one Garcia defeated the top player.

"I'm really excited about it. Starting against Simona Halep, I couldn't dream of a better start than to play against a World No.1. It's going to be a very intense match for sure," Garcia said.

Svitolina who will be playing against Wozniacki on the second day of the tournament, has 3-0 lead in a head to head count. Although in the current season both the players had been featured in Dubai and Canadian Masters, Svitolina named both of the matches against the 27-year-old Wozniacki.

The first match of 2017 WTA Finals will start at 5 pm SGT.
