An elderly woman was killed after a BMW rear-ended a lorry in which she was travelling.
The 61-year-old was travelling along with her husband in the lorry, Asia One reported. The accident happened at 6.50am on Saturday along Collyer Quay near the OUE Link Bridge.
As the car struck the truck from behind the woman fell on to the bonnet of the BMW while her husband was thrown off the rear of the vehicle.
The couple was collecting cardboard in the morning, the report said. Madam Tan Powi Kim and her husband, who sustained injurious in the accident, had almost finished loading cardboard onto their lorry when the car hit them, local media said.
The elderly couple's weekly routine of collecting cardboards helped them earn about $1,000 a month the report said.
The driver of the car has been arrested, police said.
"The 45-year-old car driver was arrested for causing death by a negligent act," a police spokesman said.
