North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered the military to be ready to use nuclear weapons any time, the KCNA News Agency reported.
The communist regime's military will be in a 'pre-emptive attack' mode as a means of defence against the "imperialists and traitors, the report said referring to the US and South Korea.
The ultra aggressive posturing follows the imposing of the toughest ever UN sanctions on North Korea for its pursuit of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.
The report says nuclear preparedness is the only means to defend the country's sovereignty against the enemies who "adopted an unprecedented and gangster-like, new "resolution of sanctions" over its bolstering of self-defensive deterrent and legitimate launch of earth observation satellite Kwangmyongsong-4."
"All the people in the DPRK are now waiting for an order of combat to annihilate the enemy with their surging wrath at the U.S. imperialists and south Korea's Park Geun Hye group of traitors," the state news agency said.
Carrying out an on-site monitoring of the test firing of the newly developed Multiple Launch Rocket System, Kim Jong Un said his forces will 'not to allow the enemies to sleep in peace till the moment they meet their final end in their land."
And the way to do is to get the nuclear warheads deployed for national defence always on standby so as to be fired any moment, the leader said.
Earlier, immediately after the Unite Nations Security Council imposed new sanctions on the country, Pyongyang had launched six short-range missiles into the Sea of Japan.
The United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution that vastly expands sanctions on North Korea after its nuclear and missile tests.
Under the tough new sanctions North Korean ships suspected of carrying illegal goods will be banned from ports across the world, while 16 new individuals and 12 organisations from North Korea have been blacklisted.
The sanctions are the strongest imposed by the Security Council in more than 20 years.
The US was backed by China as it proposed to impose "tougher, more comprehensive" sanctions on Pyongyang after it carried out nuclear and missile tests.
