How to downgrade iOS 10 beta to iOS 9.3.2 on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch

Simple guide to downgrade iOS 10 beta to iOS 9.3.2 on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch

Apple recently seeded the first beta iteration of iOS 10 for registered developers and beta testers with a host of new features and enhancements over its previous release. As with every other beta release the test version of iOS 10 could still have some untested bugs and broken features.

If you have accidentally upgraded to iOS 10 beta or just out of curiosity, there is still a way to downgrade back to the previous version of signed iOS firmware. Apple is currently signing only the latest iOS 9.3.2 version and hence it is not possible to downgrade any further to older versions of iOS 9.

If you want to downgrade or restore your device to iOS 9.3.2, here is the complete step-by-step guide to accompish the same.

Key points to remember

  • Back up important data and settings on the iOS device, before you proceed to avoid unexpected data loss during the downgrade process.
  • You can only restore your backup from iOS 9.x.x compatible backup files and restoring the iOS 10 beta files is not supported. Hence, you need to manually backup your important photos, videos and other personal files before you being the downgrade process.
