AirAsia alerts public on online scam claiming to give free flight tickets

AirAsia says the company is not conducting any survey and this scam is capitalising on its brand without any sort of authorization.

Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia has warned the public of an online scam that has been circulating via social media claiming the airline is giving away free flight tickets after completing a survey, to celebrate its birthday.

AirAsia told Bernama that the company is not conducting any survey and this scam is capitalising on its brand without any sort of authorization.

"We advise the public to disregard such invitations and AirAsia shall not be held liable for any claims pertaining to the false scheme," AirAsia said in a statement on Tuesday.

"We would like to reiterate that AirAsia does not enlist third party services in organising activities and any announcements are made via official channels such as credible mass media and our official social media channels," it added.

The airlines authority repeated the message on its Facebook page and many customers posted comments on it requesting AirAsia to verify the authenticity of the survey.

AirAsia has also lodged a police report saying it would not hesitate to take legal actions against people, who are responsible for the scam.
