WM Entertainment has cleared the air on the confusion hovering over Oh My Girl's YooA's educational background. Netizens are reportedly criticizing the girl group member for misinterpreting the dance college she graduated from.
In a previous interview with a news portal, when the 20-year-old was asked about her education profile, the young songstress revealed that she is a dance major from Sejong University. However, the surfers claim that YooA is from Sejong Univeristy's Global Knowledge Institute instead. Apparently, the Global Knowledge Institute is a part of University, but is not deemed to be of the same status. Students from the global institute do not take regular classes as Sejong University students, and has been given a status of open or online learning.
On 28 August, WM released a statement and clarified YooA's statement. The company relayed: "Oh My Girl member YooA's educational background was inaccurately transcribed in the media interview, and we want to clarify that [she graduated from] the 'applied dance department from the Sejong University global knowledge continuing education program.'"
"We were not able to review the published article [containing the interview] and the automatically updated information on the portal site, and we apologize for this belated correction," the agency said.
