Apple invite confirms iPhone 7 launch for 7 September

The highly-anticipated launch of iPhone 7 is officially scheduled for 7 September alongside Apple Watch 2 and a new MacBook Pro.

Apple has officially announced the long-awaited iPhone 7 launch for 7 September with its latest media invite being rolled out on 29 August. The high profile launch event will be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco wherein three new Apple products are likely to be unveiled.

Given the confirmed features so far, iPhone 7 is likely to retain the existing Lightning port while dropping the highly-rumoured headphone jack from its arsenal. The new iPhone is expected to feature a pressure-sensitive Home button, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage for the base model along with a dual camera. Speculation is rife that we might see the debut of 256GB storage model in the iPhone lineup.

Moving on to the Apple Watch 2, there is very little information available at the moment except for its unchanged form factor and featuring a 35% larger battery. There is talk of an improved processor and GPS chip being introduced with the Apple's new wearable device that will likely feature improved waterproofing and new swim tracking functions.

While the Apple Pro laptop lineup is expected to see a delayed upgrade sometime in fall, a new MacBook Pro could be the third surprise package at the highly-anticipated event on 7 September.

Meanwhile, iOS fans are in for some good news as Apple is likely to launch iOS 10, tvOS 10 and watchOS 3 just ahead of the iPhone 7 release sometime around 16 to 23 September. A new macOS Sierra update is also on the cards sometime later this year in October or November.
