Indonesian police have arrested another suspect in connection to the terror cell in Batam that had plotted to attack Marina Bay in Singapore.
Police spokesman Agus Rianto was quoted by the Indonesian media as saying that a 24-year-old unemployed man, identified by the police by the initials LH, was arrested by counter-terrorist personnel at a cyber cafe in Batu Aji in Batam on Saturday.
Police confiscated a cell phone, one motorcycle and a wallet from the suspect.
The suspect is believed to be a part of the KGR@Katibah GR, a group headed by Gigih Rahmat Dewa. Authorities say Gigih, a 31-year-old factory worker, had planned the rocket attack under the direction of Indonesian militant Bahrun Naim.
KGR@Katibah GR is said to have links to Syria-based Islamic State (IS) militant Bahrun Naim, who has encouraged attacks on Singapore.
"LH was part of the group that was plotting an attack on Marina Bay," Agus told Antara News Agency.
"He also underwent training using airsoft guns as preparations to go to Syria," he added.
Indonesian anti-terror forces arrested six men in August on suspicion of planning a rocket attack on Singapore. The six suspects were also allegedly from terrorist group KGR@Katibah GR.
Reports said the suspects are being investigated at the special counter-terrorism squad Densus 88's headquarters for their alleged involvement in Islamic State's Indonesian terror network.
