Arsene Wenger has said he would consider taking up the manager role with England senior team in future but maintained his current focus was only on Arsenal.
The Football Association (FA) is looking for a suitable candidate to manage the English side after Sam Allardyce's exit after only 67 days into the job.
The 61-year-old, who started his tenure leading the Three Lions to a 1-0 win over Slovakia in their 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier earlier this month, stepped down by mutual consent with the FA. His decision came after he was reportedly caught in a newspaper sting giving advice on how to bend FA's rules on third-party ownership.
Gareth Southgate, who was managing the U21 England side, has now been appointed as the caretaker for the senior side's next four games.
Wenger had also recently said that he was flattered by links to the England job. The Frenchman has been in contention for the role since Roy Hodgson quit as manager after England's dismal run in the 2016 European Championship.
Notably, the 66-year-old, whose contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the ongoing Premier League season, had insisted in July that he would never rule himself out of being at the helm of the national side and went on to say that England was his second country.
Speaking on the occasion of his 20th anniversary as the Gunners boss, Wenger reiterated that he would be available for the England job "one day".
"My priority is to do well here [at Arsenal]. It has always been my club and one day if I am free, why not? For now I am focused on the job," Wenger was quoted as saying by the Mail Online.
Arsenal travel to Burnley for their seventh league game of the season on 2 October. After losing their season opener against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal got themselves back on track with four wins on the trot. The third-placed team's biggest win so far in the season came when they crushed Chelsea 3-0 last Saturday.
Wenger, who has won three league titles and a Champions Trophy with the Gunners, said his side was shaping up well in the ongoing season and that they will strive hard to treat their fans with quality displays.
"We want to win absolutely everything and play the perfect game every game. That's my dream. I want fans to enjoy what they see. At the moment, in recent games, we have combined style and efficiency. We want to continue that," he added.
