Malaysian health authorities said seven more people are believed to have contracted the rotavirus in Kedah, bringing the total number of reported cases to 24.

State health director, Dr. Norhizan Ismail said those seven people have been taken to the Bukit Merah Laketown Resort near Taiping in Perak on September 24.

According to Dr. Norhizan, the seven people were aged between 10-months-old and 29 years old.

"So far, the state has received 24 reported cases since Sept 28," Dr. Norhizan told The Star Online in a statement on Sunday.

"Thirteen out of the 24 cases were tested positive for rotavirus, five cases were still awaiting their test results while six have yet to undergo the test for rotavirus and have received outpatient treatment," he said.

Dr. Norhizan said 15 individuals who were warded are reported to be in stable condition.
