Descendants of the Sun cannot possibly go without the trophies at any award ceremony, and so do Song Joong Ki. The monster hit of the year, starring South Korea's top Hallyu stars, yet again bagged a prestigious title at the 2016 APAN Star Awards that took place at the MBC Sangam Culture Plaza on October 2. Joong-Ki walked away with three honours.
According to Soompi, as many as 63 dramas were aired between September 2015 and September 2016. These were reviewed for the brilliance awards. While DOTS was presented with the Drama of The Year award, the boyish looking hunk was honoured with the Grand Excellence Award (Daesang) for his worthy acting in the military inspired drama. Apparently, Joong-Ki bagged the second title for Best APAN Star.
Furthermore, the 31-year-old heartthrob, who celebrated his birthday in September, supposedly experienced a special moment with his third time on stage. The final trophy apparently celebrated love, friendship and incredible chemistry with his rumoured sweet heart Song Hye Kyo. The duo who is said to be dating, won the Best Couple Award at APAN. However, Hye Kyo was not present at the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Joong-Ki also mesmerised his co-actors and fans with a few words of gratitude. He said: In his speech, Song Joong Ki said: "This is my first time receiving such a big prize and I don't know what to do. 'Descendants of the Sun' has received so much love until now, but I wouldn't be here if not for the hard work of my managers."
"There are also amazing senior actors here against whom I cannot even begin to be compared. I will work hard to show a good side of myself like my sunbaes from now on," Joong-Ki said.
