The replacement Galaxy Note 7 units can now be exchanged with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile or Sprint as the US mobile carriers have announced a free-exchange offer for all those who are wary of the battery explosion issues with Samsung's new flagship phone. This move comes in the aftermath of Samsung's replacement Note 7 unit catching fire on a Southwest plane.
It must be noted that Samsung had earlier announced a global recall of all Note 7 phones in the wake of random battery explosions with its newest flagship handset. The mass recall, however, seems to have backfired as the replacement units have also reportedly been causing fire accidents, due to unforeseen battery explosions.
Sprint was the first of all US cellular carriers to take the initiative of accepting Galaxy Note 7 handsets in exchange for any other customer-selected device in the market. Meanwhile, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile have also extended their support to swap out Note 7 devices for any other handset of customer's liking.
Although the Note 7 exchange concept appears to be a welcome gesture from the US mobile-phone operators, it could signal bad news for Samsung's future prospects in the smartphone market. Various reports also suggest that the current scenario could mean the end of the road for Galaxy Note 7.
Meanwhile, fresh speculation is rife that a second recall of the handset could be just around the corner as it is almost certain that Samsung could permanently withdraw its Note 7 promotion and sales across the globe.
