Unlocked or SIM-free models of iPhone 7 are now available for purchase via Apple's online store. You can now grab the SIM-free iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at a starting price of US $650 (SG $904) and US $770 respectively.
Although the retail version of the iPhone 7 was available earlier, it was tied to a carrier and hence you would be locked to a term-based contract with the carrier company. However, the advent of SIM-free version of the handset will remove all such obligations and give you the freedom of activating the SIM with any carrier network in your region.
Here is what the official description of the SIM-free handset says on the Apple website:
"The SIM-free iPhone comes without a wireless contract commitment or carrier financing. It doesn't come with a nano-SIM card. And because it's unlocked, it isn't tied to one carrier, so you can get a nano-SIM from any supported carrier worldwide, such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, or Sprint in the United States."
Prospective iPhone 7 buyers could navigate to the Apple store link here to purchase the SIM-free iPhone 7 or 7 Plus. Just select the handset model and then the SIM-free option from the carrier section to order your chosen smartphone.
