A cargo plane carrying four people has gone missing in Indonesia's remote Papua province, government officials have confirmed.
The Trigana Air flight PK SWW was flying from Mozes Kilangin Airport in Timika to Ilaga Airport in Papua, according to Transport Ministry official Bambang S. Ervan.
The De Havilland Canada DHC-4 Caribou Turbo Caribou aircraft lost contact with ground control on Sunday night. The plane, which was mostly carrying construction equipment, had two pilots and two passengers on board.
Search and rescue operations are going on, but so far there's no final word on the details of the plane's missing, rescues agency chief Henry Bambang Soelistyo said, according to Jakarta Globe.
"The authorities have called for help from other aircraft that flew in the Ilaga area, but as of 9.20 a.m., there is no information on PK-SWW," Bambang said.
Search teams said bad weather was delaying rescue operation in the dense forest over which the plane is believed to have gone missing.
Those on board the plane have been identified as Farhat Limi,Chief Pilot, R Fendi Ardianto, First Officer, Engineer Steven and Flight Operation Officer Andi Baringan.
