Overview

Air Force Club, also known as Al Quwa Al Jawiya, take on Bengaluru FC in the ultimate clash of the 2016 AFC Cup in Doha on 5 November.

Both the finalists on Saturday will be chasing history as either of them will bring their country its first ever continental club title.

Air Force Club, who have been playing their home games in Doha, have been impressive in their debut AFC Cup campaign. They topped their group and have won eight and lost only one game enroute to the final.

Hammadi Ahmed has been in imperious form and with 15 goals from 10 appearances, he is primed to win the Golden Boot Award. Also, the Iraqi international has found the back of the net in all the games he has played in the ongoing tournament.

Coach Basim Qasim, who rued missing Ahmed for their semi-final first leg against Al Ahed, will want his go-to-man to deliver yet again, this time on the big night. However, the Iraqi club will be without the services of influential midfielder Bashar Resan and forward Samal Saeed due to suspensions.

On the other hand, Bengaluru FC are the first Indian football club to have reached the finals of the tournament and are geared up to clinch glory in Doha. The I-League champions stunned Malaysian giants Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) in the semi-final.

A lot will depend on skipper Sunil Chhetri, who has the experience of playing high-octane clashes, to deliver the goods against the Iraqi side. The India international struck twice in Bengaluru in October to knock JDT out.

John Johnson-led defense also has to be on top of its game as Air Force Club are known for their physical, aggressive game up front. Regular custodian Amrinder Singh will miss the final and will be replaced by Lalthuammawia Ralte.
