South Korean singer and TV personality Kim Jong Kook has responded to the backlash he receives for not serving the military. The 40-year-old artist took to Instagram to reveal that he has to constantly exercise because of a disk in his back.
When he had to enlist for mandatory military service, he was given the choice to work as a public service worker because of his back. He shared an image of his X-ray on the photo sharing website, and explained his side of the story.
Kook wrote: "I've had this spine since high school. People always ask me how I work out with this spine.. I just tell them I do..cos i gotta make something to support my curved spine.#NeverComplained losers always look for excuses not to believe. They don't wanna believe. Cmon plz do what you want to do. Anything is possible if u try ur best no matter ur weakness. #Motivation#BPositive #ImpossibleIsNothing"
Earlier this year, during an appearance on SBS' Healing Camp, Kook shared his regret of not joining the army. He stated: "Thinking about it now, I realize how sensitive the issue of 'serving the military' is. I am a celebrity, and I receive a lot of support and love from people because of my job, so I should have made a wiser choice. Whether my body hurt or not, maybe I should have served military as an active-duty soldier."
