LG is now rolling out the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update for its G5 flagship phone starting with South Korea, which is its home country. Consequently, LG has officially become the second OEM to unleash the Nougat update after Google while the former's V20 holds the feat of being the first smartphone to offer the Nougat experience out of the box.
The rest of the world including G5 users in the US, Asia and several other markets will see the new Nougat update in the coming weeks. All those qualified users will receive an update notification on their smartphone, ahead of the official rollout from LG across various parts of the globe.
Android 7.0 Nougat brings a plethora of new features to the table such as multi-window, improved notifications and searches, and personalised settings among several other UI tweaks.
Here is what Kim Hyung-jung, LG's senior vice president and head of mobile research and development had to say about the Nougat software release in a recent press release:
At LG, we know our customers want the best, most up-to-date mobile experience. Getting software updates to our users faster than the competition is our way of demonstrating that LG is committed to supporting our products and customers to ensure they have a positive ownership experience.
