Overview

Singapore host Cambodia in an international friendly match at the Bishan Stadium on 12 November.

Both the teams would want to get their combination right as Sunday's clash will also the final warm-up clash for them ahead of the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup.

Moreover, the hosts would want to take some positives into their Suzuki Cup campaign after having a horrid time under coach V Sundramoorthy. The 51-year-old, since leading the side to a 1-0 win against Myanmar, has suffered a six-match winless streak, which saw Singapore slip to their lowest-ever Fifa rankings (171).

Also, the Lions had lost to Cambodia 2-1 in their earlier meeting in July. Sundram admitted that his "biggest worry" has been the lack of goals in their matches so far. Despite creating a lot of chance, the SIngapore front line has not been able to find the back of the net in their last three games. They also have scored only twice in their last six outings.

It will be a tricky test for the caretaker coach as he has one final chance to decide on his final 23-member squad. However, benching his regulars might give Cambodia the edge in a crucial match, that is important to boost the Lions' morale ahead of the eight-team Asean tournament in Philippines, starting 19 November.

Skipper Hariss Harun has reportedly conceded that the results have not been going their way in the recent past. However, he believes that there will be lesser pressure on them but they will be able to produce results in what he labels as the "Group of Death", which consists of co-hosts Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia at the Suzuki Cup.

On the other hand, Cambodia have leapfrogged Singapore in the Fifa rankings to 167th spot. They have come up with positive results in the run up to the Suzuki Cup having been unbeaten in their last four outings, which includes three in the qualifying tournament, which they won.

A win in Singapore should give them the much needed confidence to take on Malaysia, Vietnam and Myanmar in Group B of the Suzuki Cup.
