A 38-year-old man from South Wales has been jailed after he was found guilty of extorting money from as many as three Muslim women after blackmailing them with sex tapes which he secretly shot with them by impersonating a doctor and deceiving them into a relationship.
Farhan Mirza, who was earlier married four times, has been jailed for eight and a half years after he was convicted of two charges of voyeurism, three of blackmail, theft, fraud, and two charges of sexual assault.
He only targetted Muslim women because he knew they will submit to his pressure fearing the consequences they have to face if the films were made public.
"Because of their religious and ethnic backgrounds, he targeted them because of the terror, embarrassment and humiliation that each of these ladies would have felt in their minds by what this defendant did to them," said prosecutor Timothy Evans during the hearing in the Cardiff Crown Court, reported The Guardian.
After investigation, it was revealed that Farhan, who in reality is a taxi driver and IT worker, met these women, who were looking for a long-term relationship or marriage, using a false profile of a doctor through a dating app. To impress women he used to hand a false stethoscope around his neck and has surgical scrubs in his wardrobe.
Once he had convinced the woman for having sexual relation with them he would secretly film the act and then blackmail them after asking money.
During the trail, one of the women also told the jury that she is sacred of the extreme steps her family in Pakistan would take if they know about this incident.
The police was informed about this conman by one of his victim who found intimate pictures of herself and other women along with £70,000 in cash from his wardrobe.
