An online petition has been started to make former porn star Mia Khalifa the US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Around 4,000 supporters have signed the petition, which will be delivered to President-elect Donald Trump.
The petition started by Dalcolm Rodriguez-Goldstein read: "Mia Khalifa has a proven track record of bringing people together regardless of cultural background for the betterment of our country and international community. She will be a great leader representing us in the middle east as well as a symbol of the melting pot that is America."
Khalifa, who moved to the US as a teenager, sparked outrage in the Middle East after making her porn debut in October 2014. She was heavily criticised and even faced death threats for her pornographic video wearing a hijab, a traditional headscarf worn by many Muslim women.
In July, during an interview with The Washington Post, Khalifa revealed she has left the adult industry. She said: "I guess it was my rebellious phase. It wasn't really for me. I kind of smartened up and tried to distance myself from that."
