Singapore: Malaysian motorcyclist crushed by tipper truck at Woodlands Centre

Police have also arrested the 47-year-old tipper truck driver.

A tipper truck mowed down a Malaysian motorcyclist at Woodlands Centre Road near the junction of Admiralty Road on Thursday morning, making it the fourth fatal bike accident in two weeks.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said the accident took place at around 6 am in the morning and it immediately sent a fire engine, a red rhino and an ambulance to the scene. However, the 51-year-oldld male motorcyclist, identified as Ng Boon Keng, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

It was also reported that the police arrested the 47-year-old tipper truck driver and the official have ordered an investigation into the matter. The accused has been detained for causing death by negligent act, police added.

While the accident caused traffic jam during peak hours of Thursday morning, eyewitnesses said that the driver lost balance after getting squeezed between two trucks and was then run over by a container truck.

On 25 November, a video of a motorbike rider getting crushed by a trailer along Jalan Buroh road, at the junction of West Coast Highway went viral. On 27 October, an e-bike accident involving a trailer killed two men and injured another at the junction of Pandan Crescent along the West Coast Highway.
