HSBC has finally joined the elite pool of Apple Pay supported banks in Singapore, starting 1 December. HSBC now supports both Visa and Mastercard-branded debit and credit cards for all cashless transactions including the new Apple Pay service.
Apple Pay was officially launched in Singapore way back in April, in partnership with American Express. The other major banks which have already joined the party with Apple Pay service include POSB, DBS Bank, OCBC Bank, United Overseas Bank (UOB) and Standard Chartered Bank.
In addition, the contactless payments will be accepted via Apple Pay at over 30,000 retail outlets including FairPrice and Cold Storage supermarkets like Guardian, Starbucks and Uniqlo.
HSBC is offering special discounts on all purchases made between 1 December and 15 January (2017) wherein the first 8,000 customers will get $5 off on every Apple Pay transaction worth $10 or more on their credit card. However, the promotional cashback offer is capped at a maximum of $20 per transaction via Apple Pay.
