Hollywood actress and Beverley Hills socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor passed away at the age of 95, at her Los Angeles home after suffering a heart attack on 18 December. Her husband, Frederic von Anhalt, said: "We tried everything, but her heart just stopped and that was it...Even the ambulance tried very hard to get her back, but there was no way."

The Hungarian-born celebrity suffered a series of illnesses in recent years and was frequently hospitalised. Her right leg was also partially amputated due to poor blood circulation.

While Gabor often complained of grief and anxiety, it was reported that she suffered from dementia in the last phase of life.

  • Gabor was born in Budapest, to a Jewish couple on 6 February 1917. She had two sisters.
  • She studied in a Swiss boarding school, Madame Subilia's, and was requested to join a new operetta by tenor Richard Tauber. She made her fist stage appearance with the performance.
  • She won the Miss Hungary contest on 1936.
  • Gabor wrote a novel based on her life experience in 1944. It was published by an American magazine.
  • She was offered the role of Lady Chatterley in a film version of the book Lady Chatterley's Lover in 1949. However, she declined the offer due to the controversial theme of the drama.
  • She acted in popular movies like Moulin Rouge, Lovely to Look At, We're Not Married!, The Story of Three Loves and Lili.
  • Gabor was married nine times. Her first husband was Burhan Asaf Belge, whom she married in 1937.
  • Once, when she was asked about her marriages she said: "I am a marvelous housekeeper: Every time I leave a man I keep his house."
  • On 1989, Gabor was accused of slapping the face of a Beverly Hills police officer when he stopped her for traffic violation.
  • It was also reported that Gabor had a long-running feud with German-born actress Elke Sommer since 1984 and escalated into a multi-million dollar libel suit by 1993.
