A nine-year-old boy has lost his genitals during a failed circumcision operation in Malaysia. The incident, the second such case in the country in recent times, came to light on Friday. It happened in a clinic on Jalan Ipoh in Malaysia's capital city of Kuala Lumpur on 15 December – few days before the first botched procedure on a 10-year-old.
The Star daily reported that the surgery, involving scissors, completely severed the boy's penis. The boy was then moved to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) to undergo another operation to reattach the severed part. However, the doctors failed and had to amputate the remaining parts as they had blackened.
"It is so unfortunate that this has happened to the poor boy. He is so young, he doesn't know what has happened," said the plaintiff's lawyer.
On 20 December, another boy, who was going through a laser-based surgery at a clinic in Taman Cheras Utama in Selangor's capital city Kajang, faced similar consequences. It was reported that soon after the procedure, the doctor told the boy's father that he had accidentally chopped off the head of his son's penis. The victim was immediately rushed to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) where the doctors were successful in reattaching the severed body part.

After the initial investigation, it was learnt that the doctor who performed the initial surgery has 21 years of experience.
