An accident near Tangkak killed a motorcyclist on Tuesday. The mishap happened at around 8:05pm when the biker crashed into a car driven by Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football player Muhammad Fazly Mazlan, who was travelling to Johor Bahru from Serom.

Tangkak police chief Supt Mohad Idris Samsuri said the victim, who appeared to be in the 30s, died on the spot, according to Malay Mail. However, the 23-year-old football player who was behind the wheel in the Audi S5, survived the crash unhurt. "Initial investigations showed that the motorcyclist, who was from Taman Serom made a sudden exit at a junction and was attempting to make a U-turn when the mishap occurred," said the police chief as reported.

"The car which was approaching from behind hit the rear of the motorcycle," he added.

Police have ordered a probe into the matter and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987, which holds the driver's reckless driving as the cause of death. A person charged under this law can end up in the jail up to 10 years and pay a fine of 20,000 ringgit.
