Episode 16 of the highly popular South Korean drama 'Legend of the Blue Sea' is one of the most awaited, for it will feature the anticipated reunion of Lee Min Ho's character Heo Joon-jae with his on-screen mother Mo Yoon-ran, played by actor Na Young-hee. But more importantly, the episode will deal with a mysterious enemy from the shadows who pose grave danger to Joon-jae.
As noted by Inquisitr, towards the end of episode 15, we saw how Joon Jae's girlfriend Shim Cheong, a mermaid from the Joseon era, fetching Joon Jae's mother. The happiness she felt was not left unnoticed by Joon-jae. However, he wondered what could be the reason behind her feeling so happy.
Yoon-ran was startled when Shim Cheong, played by Ju Ji Hyun called her boyfriend's name out loud. She recognised that Heo Joon-jae was the name of her long lost son. Speaking with the lady, she realized that Mo Yoon-ran is Heo Joon-jae's mother. Speaking with Joon-jae through her telepathic thoughts, she told him that he is going to meet his mother as the legends were true.
However, Inquisitr mentions that fans are concerned about this reunion as it hasn't occurred yet and that there is still one street separating the mother from her son. There are speculations that the reunion will not be as easy for the characters because an accident may occur. One of the characters may get hit by a vehicle and may die in the other's arms.
Shim Cheong already said her heart was going to stop. So maybe, she reunites mother and son and dies in episode 16. However, as per some of the new stills released on the official Twitter page of 'Legends' as well as on its official Facebook page, it is clear that they will just have a heartfelt reunion and Joon-jae will learn the reason behind his mother's abandoning him.
As for the secret enemy, even though the mermaid trafficker Lord Yang, reincarnated as Ma Dae-young, was the one who plotted to overthrow Joon-jae in his past life to hunt a golden-tailed mermaid, there is someone more dangerous in this life. Through hypnosis, Dae-young found out about the shadowy man who had killed the couple at sea and also gone after Dam Ryeong's friend in the Joseon era. That secret enemy is in all likelihood Chi-hyun, Joon-jae's stepbrother.
Chi-hyun learns of a past relationship between his mother Kang Seo-hee and Ma Dae-young and that Manager Nam is in the hospital on life support because he found out about it. Chi-hyun pulls out the life-support tubes and Manager Nam dies. Before anyone could spot Chi-hyun committing murder, Dae-young pulls him away from the hospital and takes him for a ride. He tells him to sit tight and just live his life, not taking steps that could ruin Dae-young's plans. Chi-hyun is most likely Seo-hee and De-young's son. All this could become clearer in episode 16.
'Legend of the Blue Sea' episode 16, which airs on January 11, will see Heo Joon-jae trying to unravel the evil plan of his stepmother Seo-hee to kill his father and ruin his life. Hopefully he'll also find out about his secret enemy soon before time runs out.
