An official from Motorola Deutschland has just confirmed the availability of Android 7.0 update for the Moto X Play by end of January. In response to a recent fan query on Twitter, the official had this to say: "Yes, Android 7 will be available for Moto X Play by end of January. Please find further info here: bit.ly/2jHakPD."
With the latest confirmation on Twitter, it is now clear that the Nougat update for the Moto handset will be first rolled out in Germany (Europe) while there is no word on its exact release date in other regions or countries. Nevertheless, Motorola had recently listed Android 7.0 as an available upgrade for Moto X Play on its US website, just a few days ago.
Consequently, it is almost certain that the new Nougat update will embrace the X Play handsets worldwide by the end of Q1 2017 as rumoured earlier.
Several Moto devices including the Moto Z, Moto G4 and G4 Plus are already running their first Nougat update from Motorola globally while owners of the Moto X Play may have to wait a bit longer than expected.
However, restless users who cannot wait for the official release of the Nougat update on their handsets may go ahead and install any Android 7.1.1 CyanogenMod 14.1 based custom ROM like Lineage OS.
