Malaysia: Singapore-bound bus crashes into Hilux truck killing woman

A woman died after a tourist bus crushed her vehicle following a head-on collision at Malaysia's Km4 Jalan Keramat Pulai. The victim was travelling in her Toyota Hilux with four other family members who sustained serious injuries in the accident that happened on Monday.

Ipoh police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said all the five victims along with the bus driver and passengers were rushed to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital. However, the 48-year-old victim, identified as Fatimah Uda, succumbed to her injuries, according to Bernama.

Fatima was sitting in the front passenger seat while her 54-year-old husband was driving the vehicle. Her two grandchildren, aged two and four, and a four-year-old step child were also in the car and sustained serious injuries.

The officer further said that the bus was heading from Cameron Highlands to Singapore. The accident happened after the bus lost balance at a bend, skidded into the opposite lane and crashed into the oncoming Toyota Hilux, he added.

The bus driver, who was tested negative for drugs, has been arrested and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, reported the news website.
