Overview

Both Netherlands and Scotland are favourites to progress to the semi-final stages of the tournament from Group B. The two teams have opened their campaign by winning their respective tournament openers and are going head-to-head in Abu Dhabi with a chance to top the Group B table.

Scotland won the opening match of the tournament against minnows Hong Kong by 24 runs. The 13th-ranked T20I side in the world depends heavily on its batting unit, which has the likes of Kyle Coetzer, Calum MacLeod, Richie Berrington and Craig Wallace.

Scotland set a mammoth 190-run target for Hong Kong after MacLeod and Barrington struck quickfire half-centuries. Left-arm slow bowler Con de Lange and pacer Mark Watt were the most impressive ones among the lot on a day when bat dominated the ball. Coetzer-led team's bowling unit needs to buckle up if they are to produce the right results against their Tuesday's opponents.

On the other hand, Netherlands were able to clinch a five-wicket win against Oman but were tested by the underdogs of the group. While the Asian minnows managed 146 on the board, Peter Borren's unit were rocked early as they lost a couple of wickets in the first over of their chase.

Michael Rippon and Wesley Barresi led their fightback and Roelof van der Merwe played a handy knock down the order as Netherlands gunned down the total in the last over of the match.

With the veteran all-rounder in their ranks, Netherlands will be hoping to contain their familiar foes ,a batting-heavy Scotland unit, to clinch a crucial win.
