2NE1 has officially disbanded after being together for seven years. And as farewell present for fans, the girl group has promised to release their final single, Goodbye.
YG Entertainment has now released the first teaser of their final song. The teaser poster features a woman standing in front of a blurry photo of 2NE1. With lyrics penned by CL herself, J Gramm and Rook Monroe has composed the song. The full track will be released on January 21.
However, one of its team member Minzy was shocked to learn about the teaser release through a news article. Minzy, who has already left the group to pursue her solo career, has expressed her disappointment.
In an Instagram post, the youngest member wrote: "It's a shame that I had to find out 2NE1 will be releasing their final album through a news article. This is very unfortunate as I was previously a member of the group 2NE1, but I share the same feelings as the other members in wanting to show appreciation and bid farewell to everyone for all their love and support of 2NE1."
She further added: "I am truly grateful and sincerely appreciate all the love 2NE1 received and hope for your extended love and support as the members continue on in their individual careers. Thank you. I would like to apologize to all those who expressed shock at the news of my departure. It is after careful consideration and much deliberation that I have decided to pursue a new journey as an artist named Minzy Kong."
2NE1's last album Crush, was released in 2014 and they last performed together as a three-member band at the 2015 Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA). The girl-band has broken the record for the highest-charting K-pop album on the Billboard 200 with Crush. The band shot to fame with their 2009 debut single Fire, but became a household name worldwide after releasing their boastful girl power anthem I'm the Best.
