Malaysia: Road accident kills 2, victim charred beyond recognition

The other victim, who also died on the spot, was identified as a salesman from Penang.

Two people were killed in a fire breakout following an accident involving three vehicles at the Km201.2 North-South Expressway near Bukit Merah on 21 January.

According to reports one of the victims was complete charred and still remains unidentified. The other victim, who also died on the spot, was identified as Mok Wai Kit, a salesman from Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

The accident happened at around 8.35pm, just after the Gunung Semanggol R&R stop, when a lorry lost balance and crashed into a road divider after hitting two other vehicles coming from the opposite direction."Initial investigations revealed the north bound lorry skidded before crashing into a road divider and hit the Persona and Myvi coming from the opposition direction," said Perak Investigation and Traffic Enforcement deputy chief DSP Mohd Mahiri Hussin, according to Bernama. Following the accidents the vehicles caught fire and the driver of the Myvi was burnt to death, he added. However, the lorry driver survived the crash unhurt.

The officer also said that a probe has been ordered and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
