Stop President Bannon trends on Twitter as Trump's 'Muslim ban' unfolds

Even as the world lashes out at US President Donald Trump for the executive order restricting immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries, some took to twitter to tell the world who they think is actually behind the decree – ultra right wing media personality Stephen Bannon, who is also the president's Chief Strategist.

Bannon, who was the chief executive officer of Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, is known for his far-right ideologies. He was also the chairman of alt-right news site Breitbart, which often published exaggerated reports of crimes committed by immigrants.

The #StopPresidentBannon hashtag took the internet by storm when Twitter users accused "racist" Bannon of masterminding the presidential order. The former US Navy officer, who has not given any direct comment about these allegations, had lashed out at media erlier. "The media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut and just listen for a while...I want you to quote this. The media here is the opposition party," Bannon told the New York Times this week.

During the tension between Trump's White House and the media, some people believed that the Republican administration is untruthful and dishonest. They also claimed that the administration lied about the size of Trump's inauguration crowd and millions of illegal votes in the 2016 election, according to news website called Fox8.

Meanwhile, the new executive order has thrown thousands of refugees and immigrants into limbo. People ran helter-skelter at several aiports and those included even legal residents of the United States and travellers with valid visas. Immigration lawyers and advocates reacted furiously to the order and vowed to file lawsuits.

While several officers at airports around the world helped marooned travellers find a way back home, some immigration and customs officials are still struggling to interpret the new rules.

As a reaction to the new order, US judges in at least five states blocked federal authorities from enforcing it. Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has reacted to Trump's new rules by saying that all the refugees who are getting thrown out by the US are welcomed to Canada. He said that Canada will allow 300,000 immigrants to enter the country in 2017.
