After 14 years, South Korean actress Lee Young Ae is back on small screen with a new historical drama "Saimdang: Light's Diary" on SBS. And, on its time slot it is currently topping the viewership ratings. In fact, it is as strong as the popular SBS drama "The Legend of the Blue Sea" which ended on January 25.
Lee Young Ae in this new historic drama plays two characters. One is that of a modern-day historian who is known as Seo Ji Yoon and the other is a calligrapher artist known as Shin Saimdang of the Joseon era.
"Saimdang: Light's Diary," revolves around a story of a university lecturer who finds a personal diary of an ancient artist.
Lee Young Ae was hugely popular because of the famous drama "Jewel in the Palace" and earned several awards. During the press conference for "Saimdang: Light's Diary", Song Seung Heon admitted that he was very nervous on the set. He said: "I believe we were shooting our first ever scene together. I was so nervous, I kept messing up. My heart was beating so fast.
When the actor was asked how his experience was working with her, he revealed that the actress is very composed and is a brilliant actor. He further said that he was very impressed with her acting and believes that she will go a long way in her career.
The new SBS drama also stars Kim Hae Sook, playing the role of Saimdang's grandmother, as well as Oh Yoon Ah and Yoon Da Hoon.
"Saimdang: Light's Diary" was one of the most awaited drama for the drama fanatics. It was initially supposed to air on Oct. 11, 2016 on Drama Fever. It premiered on Jan. 26, Thursday.
