Overview

West Ham United registered a 3-1 victory over Middlesbrough in their last Premier League fixture at the Riverside Stadium. Andy Carroll was the star man for his side as his brace, followed by a stoppage time goal from Jonathan Calleri made sure the Hammers sealed three points.

Slaven Bilic has allowed his star player Dimitri Payet leave the club as the France international completed a switch to Marseille in the recently concluded January transfer window. West Ham will now have Carroll as the main man to lead his side's attack and he will be hoping to help his side seal three points against the Citizens.

Manchester City enter this tie after a 3-0 comfortable victory over Crystal Palace in the fourth round of the FA Cup. In the third round, they registered a crushing 5-0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium.

Pep Guardiola will be hoping his side can replicate the same form when City face the Hammers in another competition on Wednesday. A defeat is likely to end City's hope of winning the title this season.
