Gong Yoo starrer fantasy drama 'Goblin' may have ended on January 21 but it is still creating news for some reason or the other. Recently, rumors surfaced claiming that the popular tvN drama copied a scene from internationally acclaimed television series, 'Game of Thrones'.
Goblin is receiving worldwide attention because of its captivating romantic storyline. It also received high TV ratings during the show. However, reports that Goblin plagiarised from Game of Thrones started trending in Korea. Allegedly, a scene from the first episode of Goblin is visually very similar to that of a scene from Season 6, Episode 9 of Game of Thrones.
Reportedly, in 'Goblin' the battlefield scene where the male lead of the fantasy drama Kim Shin (played by Gong Yoo) is seen battling a whole army all by himself with only a sword. The scene was very similar to a scene from Game of Thrones as far as angles of the camera, its focus lengths and the filming pathing are concerned. In the Game of Thrones episode, Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) is seen battling a massive army.
When both the videos were shown side by side, the similarities were evident. However, fans defended Goblin, by stating that battlefield scenes can appear similar, there aren't too many ways to shoot a these kind of scenes. So, the similarities are inevitable. While, others argued that the scenes are technically very similar such as the camera angles, focus lengths and other techniques and it cannot be ignored.
This has created a lot of confusion and almost divided the viewers in two groups. Now, the fans really want the director to speak up and clarify the matter.
However, there is no official statement from the director or the staff of 'Goblin'. Hopefully, they would speak up soon about the matter and clear the confusion.
