The SBS fantasy series "The Legend of the Blue Sea" star Lee Min-Ho topped the recent survey and is the current favourite Korean actor in the United States. In a recently conducted study by Korea Creative Content Agency, thousands of Americans voted online for over a period of almost two weeks, according to Korean newsoutlet TV Report, as cited by Soompi. According to reports, 73.5 percent of K-drama viewers in America are females and they are between the ages of 10 and 35.
Following the "The Legend of the Blue Sea" lead actor Lee Min-Ho is Lee Joon-Gi who is at number two spot in the survey and recently made a debut in Hollywood by making a special appearance in "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter."
The "W - Two Worlds" star Lee Jong Suk, "Descendants of the Sun" star Song Joong Ki, and "The K2" star Ji Chang Wook are among the top five in the survey. The survey not only revealed the favourite Korean actor of America but also revealed the genres of the TV series which are popular in the United States.
Reportedly, the romantic comedy genre tops the list with 61.8 percent of the votes, followed by melodramas and historical dramas that nabbed the second and third position with 11. 7 percent and 9.9 percent, respectively.
Well, this shows the kind of popularity Korean entertainment and culture gained in the United States and it is spreading all across the globe. Recently, it was revealed that the 2015 South Korean film "The Beauty Inside" will be remade for the American audience and the "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke will be in the lead role.
According to Deadline, "FOX 2000 for $2 million, beating out other major companies that include Universal Studios, Lionsgate, Sony, New Line Cinema and STX."
