Moto Z owners are in for some exciting news as Motorola has begun testing the Android 7.1.1 update on its flagship smartphone. We have already seen the device getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update back in December and this comes as a welcome change for all those power-hungry users out there.
As seen in the screenshot, the Moto Z was spotted running Android 7.1.1 on Geekbench, which suggests its public aka final release could be just around the corner. However, it is not yet known if the next Nougat update will be rolled out in phases or as a simultaneous release across the globe.
There is a lot of hype and speculation about the latest Android 7.1.2 update that's currently under development and testing. It remains to be seen if Motorola would skip Android 7.1.1 and instead rollout the newer Nougat firmware as the former is mostly a bug-fix update with minor feature improvements.
Motorola had recently confirmed the Nougat update status for Moto Z Play and Moto G4 devices in Germany via its official Twitter handle. The company had clearly stated that the Nougat rollout was pushed back to mid-February for the entire Moto G4 series from the previously proposed release for January end, while the rollout for Moto Z Play has been delayed until March.
Meanwhile, various reports indicate that the Nougat rollout for Moto X series has also been postponed till May.
