The popularity of BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys, is soaring high, and now, the boy band have surpassed their own record. Their new MV "Spring Day" has broken the record for most number of likes in YouTube.
Within 24 hours of its release, the video has grossed 9.4 million views. According to AllKPop, the previous record was set by "Blood Sweat & Tears" which achieved 6 million views in 24 hours. "Spring Day" is a twin single from the album "You Never Walk Alone" along with the provocative "Not Today."
Soompi recalled: "The track Spring Day is off BTS's new repackaged album You Never Walk Alone, and its beautiful music video was released along with the album on February 13 at midnight KST."
Moreover, their music video for "Not Today" is due out on February 20 at midnight KST.
The melancholic track is a fusion of hip-hop, rock instrumentals, and EDM synths - further laced with rap breaks. The music video is directed by BTS regular Lumpens (YongSeok Choi) and is kind of an ode to dead love. Bang Sihyuk, the CEO of BTS' agency Big Hit Entertainment, tweeted: "What an honor! Thanks! BTS is the first K-pop group to reach the US iTunes Top 10 with #SpringDay!"
The seven-member boy band was formed by Big Hit Entertainment and made their debut in June 2013 with the song "No More Dream" from their album, 2 Cool 4 Skool. Their debut album won several awards including the 2013 MelOn Music Awards and Golden Disk Awards and the 2014 Seoul Music Awards.
"Most Beautiful Moment in Life trilogy" is their most popular album to date. It comprises of Rap Monster, J-Hope, Suga, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, and V. To date, BTS's discography has sold an estimated 2.7 million albums worldwide. They were also named as the most retweeted artist on Twitter in March 2016 by Forbes.
