Actress Angelina Jolie has been going through a lot after her separation with Brad Pitt but now she is back to work and reportedly promoting her latest movie, First They Killed My Father. The story of the movie is based on the period of Khmer Rouge and the first screening will take place in Cambodia.
The actress has directed the movie and its plot is said to revolve around the dreadful reign of the Khmer Rouge generation. The screening is all set to take place at the Angkor Wat temple compound in Cambodia - the place from where she adopted her son Maddox.
According to Mail Online, nearly 1,500 people are invited to the initial presentation of "First They Killed My Father", which is about the life of a Cambodian human-rights activist called Loung Ung. It is also reported that the screening will be attended by the Cambodian king, Norodom Sihamoni, as well as the other remnants of the communist dynasty.
"The movie reflects the brutality of the Khmer Rouge regime. This is a big deal for us. There is a strong interest among the Cambodian people," said the Director of Cambodia's Cinema and Cultural Diffusion Department, as reported by AsiaStarz. Apart from the Cambodian King, his wife Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk along with senior government officials are also expected to attend the show.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Jolie wanted to portray the story from a child's point of view and in turn, make the people realize the pain and sufferings that Maddox parents experienced. Jolie co-produced the movie along with Cambodia's well-known filmmaker, Rithy Panh
The cast of the said movie consisted of only Cambodian actors and Khmer, the native language of the land, is used throughout the movie. According to the reports, the film will be launched through Netflix around the world, this year.
