The five-day Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, also known as the Rio Carnival, is considered the biggest carnival in the world. This year the carnival started on Friday, February 24 ended on Tuesday, February 28 with almost two million people per day on the streets. It is a celebration before the Christian faithful start observing Lent, a period of contemplation and reflection before the coming of Easter.
Like every year this year also Brazil erupted with extravagant colours, beats of explosive music and samba dancers parading on streets. Millions of revellers across Brazil took part in the celebrations.
Samba Parade is one of the most exciting events of this carnival. The parade attracts 3,000 to 5,000 people from the country's top samba schools in the Sambódromo to compete in a cutthroat competition. Almost every corner of Brazil celebrates the carnival.
