Now, binge watching is easier with Netflix's new "Skip Intro" button. The popular streaming site introduced the "Skip Intro" to allow the viewers to skip the opening credits theme song of the series when they are binge watching it. According to The Verge, the "Skip Intro" button also allows you to skip the intros that start after a show's cold open.
According to inquistr, when asked about the new feature, a Netflix spokeswoman said, "We perform hundreds of tests every year to help make the Netflix member experience better."
After the longstanding request of many Netflix users, the option to skip intros has been added. Undoubtedly, open sequences are great for setting the tone of the show; but it becomes repetitive when someone is watching eight to twenty episodes in a day.
Netflix spokesperson Smita Saran said to CNN Tech, "We're looking at what does or doesn't enhance the viewing experience."
However, the Netflix "Skip Intro" button is not available for all the users on the site. Netflix too didn't clarify whether it will be available on all of their shows. According to Business Insider, it is currently available on House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black, Iron Fist, Mad Men and The Office.
Netflix is also testing out another new feature, that is to change its current rating system of 5 stars to a thumbs up or thumbs down, PCMag noted.
Netflix said to PCMag via a written statement, "Given that star ratings have traditionally been used to indicate quality in entertainment, members were sometimes confused about how to think about rating a title."
The new feature would be more straightforward. Reportedly, Netflix will also soon start an algorithm-based percentage matching system which will show the users the movies that the person will be more inclined to watch.
