The old drama series of KBS, "School" will be returning soon with a new instalment this year titled, "School 2017." On March 20, a source from the broadcasting station announced that the auditions for the cast are currently on the way for the upcoming drama, Soompi reported.
In 1999, the KBS's "School" franchise first began with "School 1." Since that time, several instalments have been followed over the years, the latest popular dramas include, "School 2013," and "Who Are You: School 2015."
Between all the dramas, the common thread is focussing on the youths mainly. This was one of the first dramas "really showcasing school life", though they focused more on the youth romance they also put an effort to show how the daily lives and concerns of the youth of today remain steadfast.
The series is also known for bringing up many actors to the spotlight, namely Jang Hyuk and Choi Kang Hee in "School 1," Ha Ji Won and Kim Rae Won in "School 2," in "School 2013," it was Lee Jong Suk and Kim Woo Bin and in "Who Are You: School 2015," BTOB's Yook Sungjae and Kim So Hyun.
Most of these actors made a name for themselves in the industry after starting with a "School" drama as their starting block.
This is one of the reasons as to why the viewers are eagerly waiting for "School 2017" that will give a chance to reveal the fine actors who are in their 20s having both the star quality as well as amazing acting skill.
According to Soompi, "School 2017" will premiere sometime in July, this year. The upcoming series will be aired on Monday and Tuesday, after the "Perfect Wife" as well as "Third-Rate My Way" (tentative title) ends.
The Producing director of the upcoming series will be Park Jin Suk, who oversaw "Naked Fireman."
