There's exciting news in the galaxy! It is being reported that three famous fictional planets featured in the past 'Star Wars' films will b featured in 'The Last Jedi.'
If its true, this means that characters and stories associated with those planets will impact the script of 'The Last Jedi' in a significant way, further strengthening its ties to the earlier films.
Star Wars News Net claims to have heard from a source that the eighth film in the Skywalker saga, 'The Last Jedi' might feature planets Tatooine, Endor and Mustafar. Tatooine is the desert planet with twin suns, where Luke Skywalker grew up being cared for by adoptive parents, until they were killed. It is here that Luke first met Obi-Wan Kenobi. It was also the home of Luke's father Anakin. The Mos Eisley cantina and spaceport were featured in two key scenes in 'A New Hope.' It was in the cantina, called Chalmun's, where Han Solo offered Luke and Ben Kenobi a ride on his Millennium Falcon.
Home to Ewoks, Endor is a forested moon that was first featured in 'Return of the Jedi' and around whose orbit, the second death star was constructed. The Battle of Endor led to the destruction of the shield generator complex and the second Death Star. Endor was also the site where the remains of the redeemed Darth Vader were burned in a funeral pyre set up by his son Luke Skywalker.
As for Mustafar, it is the very volcanic planet where Anakin transformed into Darth Vader. Anakin was defeated at the hands of his master Obi-Wan Kenobi and most of his body was burned by the fires of the flowing lava. Though not named, Mustafar was also revealed to be the site of Vader's castle in 'Rogue One,' where he was seen trying to heal his damaged body in a bacta tank.
All the planets have a deep significance in the 'Star Wars' lore and featuring them in 'The Last Jedi' could make the story of the film truly intense. We already know of Kylo Ren's obsession with Darth Vader and his desire to follow in the misguided footsteps of his late grandfather, seduced by Snoke.
It has been previously learned that various items belonging to Darth Vader were picked up from Endor and sold to Kylo Ren, like Vader's melted mask. So, taking into account the past associations with Anakin and Luke on Tatooine and Mustafar, it appears that 'The Last Jedi' will heavily explore Kylo Ren as a character, especially his obsession with his past.
It was recently revealed in 'Star Wars Rebels' that Luke Skywalker is the 'Chosen One,' not Anakin. As someone destined to bring balance to the force, we speculated that it is Luke who might kill Kylo Ren. Kylo Ren, whose real name is Ben Solo, was Luke's student before he betrayed him, formed the Knights of Ren and killed Luke's students. It will be interesting to see how their dynamic plays once they come face to face. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.
'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' will release in December, this year.
