The "Descendants of the Sun" actor Song Joong-ki has already made a solid position for himself in the entertainment industry of Korea and is now on the verge to conquer the rest of the world too. According to inquisitr, if things go well, the 31-year old handsome actor will walk the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival, this year.
As his upcoming movie "Battleship Island" is one of the four South Korean movies that has a chance to make it to Cannes. The actor is really excited about the movie and said, "This is a grand project and I am happy to be a part of it. I have been running for six months to keep my body in shape. I wanted to do a great job because I believe this is a meaningful project."
Battleship Island is one of the most anticipated South Korean movies this year and has a stunning cast which includes So Ji-sub and Hwang Jung-min.
Inquisitr noted that So Ji-sub said that he is eagerly waiting for the movie. He also revealed that "There were some dangerous shooting scenes, which were quite challenging to do. It was also emotionally taxing. I am truly glad that we managed to finish the movie on time. I am happy."
Hwang Jung-min shared his experience about the project and said, "It is over and I want to applaud myself. The cast and the crew worked so hard to make it happen."
The story of the movie revolves around the life of oppressed coal mine workers in Hashima Island, known as Gunkanjima. The island is located 15 km from Nagasaki, Japan which is an abandoned piece of disaster. Battleship Island is set in the Japanese colonial era and it focuses on the lives of brave fighters of Korea who escaped the island that was guarded by ruthless Japanese people.
Song Joong Ki got a global recognition after his powerful performance in "Descendants of the Sun." In fact, almost after a year of its airing, he is still receiving awards for playing a crucial role in the military romance drama. The drama will reportedly be remade in Taiwan and China is going to make it to a movie.
