Harry Styles reportedly does not like being called the next Justin Timberlake. The One Direction member hopes to make a mark following his solo music and acting debut.
Styles will make his acting debut in Christopher Nolan's second world war drama, Dunkirk. A source told Hollywood Life: "Harry understands fully how important the next phase of his career is going to be getting off the ground and he wants to make a splash not only for his solo career but for his fans, his label and himself."
"And he hears all the whispers of being even more of a superstar than he already is, and he is not going at this time be the next Justin Timberlake. He is going into this part of his career to be the first Harry Styles. He wants to be the one people compare instead of being compared to someone else," the insider added.
The 22-year-old boy band member is apparently impressing everyone on the movie set with his acting skills. During an interview with Evening Standard, Oscar-winning actor Mark Rylance praised Taylor Swift's former boyfriend. He said: "He doesn't need tips. He is shaping up. I didn't know anything about him really other than my 12-year-old niece played me a music video. She adores him. There are girls all over the place trying to get to him — he is one handsome fella with an incredible smile and eyes."
"What's really surprised me is he's really witty, really funny — he really makes me laugh. He's been ever so brave, not making any fuss. He seems remarkable ... one of those people [who has] — Sean Penn has it too — a kind of panache. I look at them and think, 'How did you get that? How do you get so that life is easy?' But he has got a lovely, lovely character. It's a gift," he added.
Styles will be seen alongside Tom Hardy and Kenneth Branagh in the movie. The film is set to release in 2017.
