Rio Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu slipped from second to fifth spot in Badminton World Federation rankings, released on 13 April, while her arch-rival Carolina Marin climbed a spot to second with 78964 points but is still a long way behind world number one Tai Tzu Ying (89561).
The 21-year-old Indian shuttler reached her career-best second spot last week shortly after winning India Open title, which was also her second Superseries crown. While she made her way up the ladder with a run to the quarter-final in All England and the victorious campaign at home, a shocking first-round exit at Malaysia Superseries Premier last week has cut short her stay as the world number two.
On the other hand, Marin has been rewarded for her consistent run in the ongoing season. Despite not being able to win a title, the Spaniard has reached the final of Superseries tournaments on the trot (India Open and Malaysia Open) adding to her podium finish at Swiss Open last month.
South Korea's Sung Ji Hyun has also risen two spots to third after three semi-final appearances in the ongoing season (India, All England and Malaysia).
Lee Chong Wei reigns supreme
With the All England title and runner-up medal at Malaysia Open in his bag, Lee Chong Wei is sitting pretty at the top of Men's singles standings. His arch-rival Lin Dan, after winning the Superseries Premier title in Sarawak last week, has retained the sixth spot.
However, the biggest mover in the Men's singles rankings is South Korea's Son Wan Ho as the 28-year-old has jumped three places to the second spot after a solid run to semi-final in Malaysia last week.
Danish shuttler Viktor Axelsen and Jan O Jorgensen have slipped to third and fifth spot, respectively. While the former faced a shocking first-round exit in Singapore yesterday shortly after his second-round exit in Malaysia, the latter's 2017 season has been hampered by injury concerns.
Reigning Olympic champion Chen Long has retained the fourth spot and All England runner-up Shi Yuqi has improved his position by a spot to eighth.
Indonesia's Marcus Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya have moved to the top spot in Men's duobles rankings after winning three Superseries titles (India, All England and Malaysia) on the trot.
