Park Hyung-sik is riding high on the success of his recently concluded drama 'Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.' The actor has now opened up about his band ZE:A and the actors who influenced his decision to sign with his new agency, United Artists Agency (UAA).
During a recent interview with Allkpop, Park Hyung-sik talked about how his boy band ZE:A, also known as 'Children of Empire,' is like a family to him. "ZE:A are people whom I've known since I first came to the company, dressed in my school uniform. I'm 27 years old now, and it's been 10 years. They're just like family. Out in society, you tend to show your good side to people, but at home, you snap at your mom." The band is composed of nine members, namely, Kevin, Kwanghee, Siwan, Lee Hoo, Taeheon, Heechul, Minwoo, Hyungsik and Dongjun.
Park Hyung-sik added that he doesn't need to pretend to be anybody but himself when he is with his band. "When I'm with the members, I can be the real Park Hyungsik. We talk about everything, we say, 'This happened and that happened,' we can tell one another, 'Drink and die,' and open up our heart's secrets when we're together," he revealed. Regarding the band's failure to succeed as a group, he said it was destined to happen. "Of course it would have been great if we'd done well, but I believe it was destined that way. We definitely did our best and were desperate, but it must just have been heaven's will."
He added, "I think from here on is more important. But that's not to say that the time we spent up until now was for nothing. I think we all learned something from it. Such things will serve as a bigger stepping stone. If we had done well as a group, we may not be where we are now. There may be 9 of us here at this interview [instead of must me]. (Laughter). It's impossible to know the future, but just looking forward is what's important." As regards his singing ambition, Hyung-sik said he still loves singing and would like to put out a single album featuring his own story in the song.
The 'Hwarang' actor also revealed the names of the actors who inspired his decision to move to a new agency. As noted by Soompi, in a recent interview, Hyung-sik said that fellow actors Yoo Ah-in and 'Descendants of the Sun' actor Song Hye-kyo influenced his decision to sign a contract with UAA. However, he has yet to meet these actors. "I'm both very nervous and very excited [to meet them]," he said.
Park hyung-sik in particular, admires Yoo Ah-in a lot and said, "I have been a fan of Yoo Ah In's for a long time. Every time I watched one of his films, I would think to myself, 'How does he act like that?' and greatly admired his acting abilities. I felt that I would be able to learn and improve a lot as an actor, just by observing."
Speaking of his new agency, Hyung-sik added, "I am now just beginning [my career as an actor]. As I moved agencies, I thought my first venture into this part of the industry was the most important and I wanted [to sign on with] an agency that would carefully consider every step in my career. UAA did a lot to meet my wishes, which is why I came to the decision to the join UAA."
Park Hyung-sik also admitted recently that he loved working with Park Bo-young. "I really loved Park Bo Young. She's that lovable. She really was Do Bong Soon and, because Park Bo Young truly was Do Bong Soon, I loved her. I wanted to love her more but [the drama] unfortunately ended," the actor said, as quoted by another Soompi article.
