The opening ceremony of this year's Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix is getting glitzier and glamorous.
American pop rock band OneRepublic, together with English rock band Duran Duran will lead the grand event while singers like Ariana Grande, The Chainsmokers, George The Poet, Lianne La Havas and Seal have also been lined up for the three-day event from 15th to 17th September.
OneRepublic will open the event at the Padang stage in Zone 4, after the last track activity on Friday (Sept 15) while American DJ duo The Chainsmokers, and Duran Duran are scheduled for Sept 16. Ariana Grande will also be performing for the first time in Singapore on the same day.
"The Chainsmokers will be showcasing a full-length concert in Singapore for the first time at the Padang Stage on Saturday, 16 September. Fans of the dynamic duo can look forward to a highly energetic performance with chart-topping singles such as Something Just Like This, Closer, Don't Let Me Down, Roses, All We Know and Paris," a press release stated. It further added that the line-up might undergo a change according to the availability of the artists.
The tickets for all the concerts in Zone 1 starts from S$448, while the Zone 4 activities start from S$248. This is the tenth edition of the Singapore GP, which is the only night race in the F1 calendar. The organisers are also offering a 28% off on the regular ticket prices as a part of its early bird phase until 8 May 2017.
However, a report on Channel NewsAsia was skeptical about the continuation of the GP after 2017. The report reads: "Singapore GP currently holds a contract to host the FIA Formula One World Championship until 2017. There had been speculation last year that the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix may not continue beyond 2017 after Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone claimed the city-state does not want to host the race any longer."
